Morning Meetings

We gather three times a week as a community (grades 1-3). At these meetings, we celebrate our efforts toward excelling in learning.

Cultural Events

Socrates families and students come together to celebrate our diverse cultures at celebrations including Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) and Cinco de Mayo.

Buddy Reading

Cross-grade level classes pair up for Buddy Reading at least once every two weeks. During Buddy Reading, students practice reading with a student at a higher or lower grade level. This allows younger students to practice their reading skills and older students to adopt the role of mentor.

Electives

Students also have the chance to work with different teachers and students at different grade levels when the classes regroup for electives, including art, dancing, and drama.

Field Trips

Socrates students go on a variety field trips throughout the year. At the end of the year, all of the Socrates classes visit the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.

Exhibition Night

During the spring trimester, the students engage in an learning unit focused on ecology and environmentalism. At the end of the unit, students share what they have learned with their families and the greater community during an exhibition night.
